13 Sep Last-place finisher in Olympic marathon delivers a first-class Olympic moment
An entrepreneur’s life is full of challenges, and let’s face it, sometimes we feel like quitting. Yet it’s the perseverance – not the results – that gives us the greatest reward in the end.
Watch this video to see what I mean: Last-place finisher in Olympic marathon delivers a first-class Olympic moment
In business, just like the Olympics, the focus is often on the “gold” moments – the big wins and the glory. But the majority of experiences in business (and in the Olympics) are made up of smaller struggles and wins, like the 76 other marathoners who didn’t win a medal but finished the race.
In the video, another marathoner is mentioned who had a similar result in 1968. He was quoted as saying, “My country did not send me 5,000 miles to start the race. They sent me 5,000 miles to finish the race.”
I’m brought to tears every time I watch this video and think about the determination it took. I’m continually inspired not only by Olympic athletes like her but by all my clients who keep going despite the challenges.
Watch the video and leave a comment letting me know what you think.
And as I always say to my clients, “Keep going!”
