20 Mar Stop ghosting your own goals
Ever notice how it’s way easier to be accountable to someone else than it is to be accountable to yourself?
You wouldn’t flake on a commitment to a friend or a client. But what happens when it’s you? Suddenly, it’s optional.
Here’s the thing: accountability isn’t just about getting things done—it’s about creating momentum. Even if you don’t finish a project, simply starting it moves your business forward. You learn, you adjust. And you wouldn’t have done it at all without that extra push.
So, if you’ve been struggling to follow through, try this:
- Get an accountability partner. Tell someone what you’re doing. The simple act of committing out loud makes a difference. (Of course, that’s a big role I take on as a coach.)
- Do a “post-mortem” on missed commitments. If you didn’t get something done, ask why. What got in the way? What needs to change next time? What were you avoiding or resisting?
- Start small. Even 15 minutes on the right task beats another round of “I’ll do it later.” “Later” turns into “never!”
Accountability isn’t about pressure either. It’s about making success easier, one small commitment at a time. And if you need a little extra accountability, I’m here. Let me know what you’re working on!
